Mark Trueman’s Bantams made it three-consecutive Sky Bet League Two victories - with a 1-0 triumph over Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park.

Lee Novak’s 62nd-minute winner was enough to secure all three points for City - who extended their unbeaten run to four matches.

The Bantams got off to a positive start and dominated the early stages of the encounter. Gareth Evans had the first effort towards goal after finding space outside the area, but his shot cleared the crossbar.

In the 10th minute, Clayton Donaldson had a low, driven shot from six yards out saved by Scott Davies in the Rovers goal.

In the 15th minute, Billy Clarke lofted in a cross to the back post which founded Lee Novak, though the City frontman could not hit the target from close range.

The hosts had a good opportunity to score in the 24th minute as Danny Lloyd turned away from Elliot Watt inside the area - but shot straight down the neck of Richard O’Donnell.

As Tranmere continued to push forward, Peter Clarke got on the end of a floated cross from the left-hand side - though his cushioned header was easily stopped by O’Donnell.

Just before half-time, Connor Wood hit a low-driven effort from 30 yards out towards goal, which Scott Davies tipped around the post.

City started the second half in positive fashion, as Elliot Watt swung in a deep free-kick from the halfway line, which was eventually held by Scott Davies.

The visitors responded well, and Danny Lloyd dribbled from the touchline past a number of City defenders before shooting towards goal from 35 yards, though his effort trickled past O’Donnell’s far post.

In the 49th minute, Gareth Evans charged forward from inside his own half and beat a number of Tranmere defenders before shooting low towards goal - though his effort was saved.

The Bantams opened the scoring in the 62nd minute through Novak - who netted his third goal in his past four matches.

Levi Sutton did well down the right-hand side to create space and cross towards goal, and City’s leading goal-scorer made no mistake from inside the six-yard box - converting past the Tranmere goalkeeper.

O’Donnell made an outstanding acrobatic save to deny James Vaughan in the 79th minute, keeping out his effort from point-blank range.

City defended in numbers to fend off a number of late Tranmere attacks, to secure a Boxing Day victory at Prenton Park.
