Mark Trueman was pleased with another encouraging City performance - after his side was held to a 0-0 draw away at Sky Bet League Two leaders Cambridge United.
The Bantams came the closest of the two sides to clinching all three points at the Abbey Stadium - in what was their first outing since December 29.
Trueman felt his and Conor Sellars’ side coped well against the threats of their high-flying hosts, and was satisfied with the result.
He said: “I was pleased with the performance. It was always going to be interesting - heading into the game - to see how we dealt with different situations, but we looked the stronger team for large parts.
“Cambridge are a good side, who are at the top end of the league for a reason, but we nullified their threats well and stopped them from playing.
“We sensed we would have opportunities to win the game and felt as though we were becoming the stronger team, towards the end.
“I suppose we are satisfied with a point, but we would have been much happier had Gareth Evans’ chance late on have gone in - and we had managed to nick all three.”
Trueman also praised the intensity and energy his players displayed in Cambridgeshire - particularly when considering the lengthy layoff.
He admitted he and the coaching staff had attempted to replicate areas of games over the past few weeks, given extended hours on the training field, but thought the side adapted well to the different environment.
City’s interim boss added: “As a staff, we we have tried to replicate the game intensity in training as much as possible, but nothing is like a real game.
“On the back of a three-week break, how we adapted and performed was impressive. You would not have thought we had had that long off.
“Overall, we were happy with the intensity we played with, and our fitness levels, and it was just great to get back out on the grass.”
