Calum Kavanagh praised a "special" atmosphere at the University of Bradford Stadium, as City ran out 4-1 winners in their final game of the season against Newport County.

The Bantams contested their annual memorial fixture ahead of next month's 39th anniversary of the Valley Parade Fire Disaster.

Kavanagh was particularly touched when walking out to 'You'll Never Walk Alone', and lauded the atmosphere a bumper Valley Parade crowd created.

“It was absolutely unbelievable” he said.

“We were walking out and they were playing You’ll Never Walk Alone, and I just took everything in.

“This is special. When there is something to play for, Bradford City is a truly special place.

“The fans were unbelievable before the game and throughout, and they helped us kick on in the game.”

Touching upon the five wins in a row to close out the season, Kavanagh hopes his side's late-season form will help instil positivity into the team ahead of next season.

He added: “We have given ourselves a good platform for next season, and a baseline of what we can do.

“This league is all about consistency. We have given ourselves a good account on how to keep that now.”
