Bradford City AFC is delighted to be entering an official partnership with Bradford 2025.

Formally announced at yesterday’s event at the University of Bradford Stadium, which saw the all-new Bradford 2025 brand unveiled, and Zayn Malik installed as the official Bradford 2025 ambassador, the Bantams’ partnership with the UK City of Culture representation builds on the club’s support throughout the bid stage.

It is one of several similar relationships Bradford 2025 have tied up with organisations across the district, as announced on Tuesday afternoon in The McCall Suite.

City will support the new Bradford 2025 identity across digital platforms and on our first team travel coach, as well as carrying a nod to the 2025 UK City of Culture on all tickets and playing kits for the next two seasons.

Bradford, the UK’s youngest city, was announced as the 2025 UK City of Culture in May 2022, live on BBC’s The One Show, with the year set to deliver more than 1,000 new performances and events including 365 artist commissions, a series of major arts festivals as well as exciting national and international collaborations.

Ryan Sparks, Bradford City AFC Chief Executive Officer, said: “We are delighted to be working with Bradford 2025, celebrating a fantastic achievement for our city. It is a really huge success for Bradford to have obtained City of Culture status for next year.

“At Bradford City, we always champion significant Bradford brands and organisations. Working together with key pillars across the district is a huge part of our strategy at the club - and this partnership represents an extension of that.

“We will be carrying wording with a nod to the City of Culture below the crest on our playing shirts for the next two seasons, which will be worn with huge pride in what Bradford has accomplished.

“The new brand looks fantastic, and is one we are excited to be working with and implementing across several areas of the club over the coming years.”

Zayn Malik, Bradford 2025 Ambassador, said: “Bradford is and always will be home to me.

“It is a very special place and I am happy to see it being recognised as the UK City of Culture for 2025.

“There are some exciting projects I am taking part in throughout the year that I cannot wait to share with you.

“I have travelled all over the world but my roots and family remain in Bradford. Now we can celebrate this great city and the people who live and work here with the rest of the world.”

Daniel Bates, Executive Director of Bradford 2025 said: “To welcome Morrisons as a Major Partner, alongside the Bradford City AFC partnership, is a fantastic show of confidence in our designation as UK City of Culture.

“Together, we have exciting plans for ways in which we can reach thousands of people across the district and nationally to create further excitement and anticipation for what will be a once-in-a-lifetime celebration.

“Our people powered the winning bid and through our Volunteer Programme we are inviting them to play a part in delivering what we hope will be a transformational year for all of us.

“Along the way we are inviting everyone, from artists to businesses, from schools to community groups, to help us bring to life a year of culture that could only happen here.’’

Shanaz Gulzar, Creative Director of Bradford 2025, said: “In 2024, we are gearing up for a district-wide cultural programme which will put Bradford on a national and international stage.

“I am thrilled Bradford’s very own superstar Zayn Malik is joining us on this journey – his creative vision and passion for his hometown strongly aligns with our brand values.

“Zayn’s involvement, as well as the three special events in 2024 and the collaboration with Screen Yorkshire, are just a taste of what is to come in 2025. This is the start - our countdown has begun.”
