CLUB STAFF TO TAKE ON MARCH OF THE DAY

3 March 2024

Bradford City AFC club staff will join a host of former footballers in taking on March of the Day in March 2024, raising funds for the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation. 

The challenge, organised by Redwood Events, will see a team of walkers take on a continuous 175-mile trek from the University of Bradford Stadium to Anfield, dedicated to City legend Stephen Darby and former Huddersfield Town forward Marcus Stewart. 

Setting off from Valley Parade on Friday March 22, the route will see the team stop off at 17 other football stadia on their way to the home of Liverpool FC, where they aim to cross the finish line on Sunday March 24. 

A core team including the likes of former Liverpool and England goalkeeper Chris Kirkland, former Liverpool and Scotland defender Dominic Matteo, brother of Stephen Darby, Kev, and father of Stephen Darby's wife Steph Houghton, Len, will be joined by separate teams comprising of former teammates of both Darby and Stewart, from throughout their footballing careers. 

A number of City staff members - including manager Graham Alexander and assistant manager Chris Lucketti - will join a group organised by former Bantam Filipe Morais, after raising over £18,000 through the Claret and Amber Ramble in April 2023

Also in this team, will be Morais, James Hanson, Gary Jones, Andrew Davies, Tony McMahon, Billy Clarke, Nathan Clarke, Ben Williams, Lee Butler, Nick Allamby, David Wheater, Will Buckley, Jem Karacan, Aaron Wilbraham and Andy Taylor. 

The team have set a fundraising goal of £10,000, as part of a wider goal for the whole March of the Day challenge of £50,000.
